Deaf Santa Claus at Peppermint Parkway
December 17, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm CST$40
Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is thrilled to welcome Deaf Santa Claus and the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community to this year’s Peppermint Parkway on the evening of Saturday, Dec. 17 from 5:30–9:30pm.
Available on select nights from November 25-December 30 at COTA, Peppermint Parkway is a magical holiday experience featuring a one-mile drive-thru of unforgettable immersive holiday displays, millions of dazzling lights, characters, and more. In addition, guests can drive on COTA’s signature 3.41-mile track with a Candy Cane Cruise ticket, visit Peppermint Plaza to meet Pepper and Mint, enjoy holiday treats, and experience thrilling rides, or pick the perfect tree for the season at Wonder Woods discount tree lot.
“We’re so glad to have a new, special night of Peppermint Parkway featuring Deaf Santa Claus for our local deaf and hard-of-hearing community. We are honored to have this wonderful addition to the event,” Chief Experience Officer, Courtney Young said.
In 2021, the holiday tradition of Deaf Santa Claus was started by Charles Graves and a local deaf-owned marketing agency CHILMARKeting. Every year, Charles hopes that a positive interaction in ASL with Deaf Santa Claus will create a memorable experience for deaf and hard-of-hearing children and their families.
“I am fortunate to have the opportunity to meet millions of children each year, and it’s inspiring to know that COTA and the Peppermint Parkway recognizes the value of being able to connect directly with someone in their native language. Too many children are not seen for who they are and aspire to be, and this is the connection I strive to make with every individual I meet. What each of us can do – Santa Claus or not – is make that person feel seen and valued,” Deaf Santa Claus representative Anthony Mowl shared.
With the shared goal of providing a more inclusive holiday experience, COTA and Deaf Santa Claus are excited to bring this partnership to life for the very first year.
